There are glimmers of
hope out there that some sanity may be about to take over in the halls of
government. All week Stephanie Miller
has been talking about this “certificate of discharge of duty” or something
that Congress could petition John Boehner with to force a vote on both the debt
ceiling and the government shut-down.
What I didn’t know before was that Harry Reed now claims that John
Boehner assured him last summer that is Reed went with republican funding rates
of the government in the CR, that Boehner would not threaten a government
shut-down. So Boehner broke his word and
George Stephenopolis didn’t call him out on it.
But the journalism question has been so limp wristed it smacks of that
Florida court where Trayvon Martin was put on trial. Stephanie pointed out by way of contrast that
Bob Sheefer on Face the Nation last Sunday, an interview I saw on-line, that
Sheefer nailed the Republicans to the wall and getting to the heart of issues. But the media in general does not want to
hold Republican tea bagger’s feet to the fire- - in the tradition of Sanford
Florida “Because after all if we made it a real fight of it we might win- - and
we can’t have that”. That’s my
rendition of how the Media would justify themselves. But there is talk of the constitutional
crisis option where President Obama disregards the status of the “debt ceiling”
and directs the Dept of the Treasury to go on issuing new bonds anyhow. Then the thing would go to the Supreme
Court. As to the argument about back
wages- - this is an area in which I would have voted NOT to give these people
back wages- - and that includes the military.
They have said in the short time they were furloughed- - that “It will
take us a full month to catch up to where we were because all the maintainance
work on aircraft and such still needs to get done”. But as Mario says, “Paying these people seems
to defeat the whole point of defunding the government because they think we are
spending too much money”. In areas such
as SSI and SS checks, these are pre authorized payments- - but in areas of “discretionary
spending” - - I am unsure of the point of paying all of these people for NOT
working. On what planet does THAT happen
in private industry? As to the issue of
funding individual departments of government- - I WOULD have voted for the
peacemeal approach there. It would be
like a hostage taker had all four of your kids, and then they offer to let you
have one back as a “show of good faith” I would thank God for small favors and
take back my child. The democrats didn’t
see it that way. Right now the Senate is
voting for their position on the debt ceiling.
In the House- - all the bean counters seem in agreement that there ARE
the votes to pass a clean budget bill in the House. I have never heard John Boehner explain why
he will NOT have a vote. Now I hear that
there is actually some backlash against these tea party politicians because
major businessman donors are getting nervous about signs the economy is already
in trouble due to the default threat.
But I would remind you that just as the Devil in “Damn Yankees’ was
never happier when major disasters occurred- - so are Rush Limbaugh and the tea
party never happier as the prospect of our credit rating as a nation being
downgraded further. Judy has so often
spoken about how it’s China who “holds us all hostage by threatening to pull
their loans”. But what China will not
do, then John Boehner and the tea party believe “We’re just going to have to
push this disaster along if it won’t happen on its own”. (Selah)
The latest poll says seventy percent of the American people are unhappy
with Congress for refusing to settle this debt ceiling crisis. My only
reservation about that number is that I am personally disappointed it’s
not a lot higher such as 90% or 95% of the American people want congress to end
the debt crisis. In terms of the Supreme
Court legitimizing the Affordable Care act- - many compare it to the Fugutive
Slave act of 1857. They will say “Well
look we can’t rely on the Supreme Court because they were wrong a hundred and
fifty years ago in one of their rulings”.
What struck me as so hypocritical about this position on the right is
that these tea baggers would be the FIRST ones to defend the Fugutive Slave Act
since we know how they value “property rights” over human rights. Just think about it.
I’d like to address the
tea party’s one claim to scriptural support for their positions on money and
greed, which is Jesus’ parable of the talents.
OK. Jesus if you will remember
praised the two recipients of money for going out to “the exchangers’ and
putting their vast money to work stimulating commerce and trade and giving
people needed loans and such. And he
condemned the one guy who basically stuffed his money in a mattress like Granny
Clampett. This in modern terminology would
be like the big business who refuses to hire on workers or expand his plant
production capacity or modernize but just takes his money and sticks it in some
off shore account somewhere. In fact
these people are SO very rich- - they will put their money in Swiss Bank
accounts where you have to pay to keep your money there- - because they don’t
want their money traced and Switzerland has such strict confidentiality
laws. The very idea that Jesus would be condoning
greed in this parable is absurd. And by
the way Jesus said to let your light shine and nut stick it under a trash can
or something. And yet if there ARE any
people who become Christians- - they are buried and it is made known in no
uncertain terms that they will never amount to anything- - and I know this from
first hand experience. (Selah) By the way - - Disneyland has decided to make
a lot of their part time workers- - full time workers so that their “talents”
can be more thoroughly utilized and they will then get health care. It is pointed out that the vast majority of
large employers already provide health care for their employees.
I think the news is in
one of those Revolution 9 tape loops.
There was a Tom Terrific episode on Captain Kangeroo where people were
stuck in a time loop doing and undoing the same things over and over again - -
as the behest of some arch villain like Crabby Appleton or something. You have this biker story for about the fifth
day in a row. These motorcyclists
surround this SUV or whatever and then the guy in front of them slows
down. He has been interviewed on
television and claims it’s all some misunderstanding. So why would a bunch of cyclists completely
surround an SUV and then slow down? They’ve
never explained that one and the NY cops aren’t buying this one guy’s story any
more than anyone with brains is buying John Boehner’s talking points. And we hear about Hurricane Karen - - - which
was dead in the water days ago. Then we
hear about these two raids of our government to capture terrorists- - but we
never hear anything new- - it’s always a recapitulation of the exact same edit
on all of these news stories like this crash in the Houston Grand Prix. I love a good crash as good as the next guy-
- but when you see the exact - - same footage for the fifth or sixth time in a
row - - I say it’s time to move on. This
guy is named Dario and is around forty and- - he himself said at a race in
Daytona that- - “Somebody ought to do something about crashes like this”.
Now Michael Medved is on and saying “Well I’m
fed up with both sides of this debt crisis stand-off, but President Obama could
end it today if he wanted to”. But then
he went on to say that tea party members were running ads on TV to urge people
NOT to sign up for Obama Care. And by
the way they are fixing their web sites by acquiring more band width and
putting in new programs to handle the crush of browsers. But Stephanie points out that Michael Medved would not be free to espouse any even slightly liberal view on the Sean Hannity show. This worship of the Great God Two-side, is getting really old, because allthough they START a conversation that the Republicans and Democrats merit equal blame- - they never END their conversation that way. By the END of the conversations like this they invariably say "Everything wrong with the world is President Obama's fault". By the way - - in terms of this incremental funding- - the reason why the Democrats are suspicious of "compartmental funding" is because the Tea Party has been aching to defund the EPA and the Department of Education - - permanently, and this would be just the way to do it because they would "get used to the idea" of NOT having these departments funded.
In
other news the Dodgers beat Atlanta last night and have advanced to the next
level. Mal Evans yesterday said that “Putting
in their ace pitcher after three days rest when he’s not used to it could be a
big mistake because what if they lose that game and now that they need their
best pitcher in Atlanta they won’t have him available”. By the way the Dodgers up through 1981
inclusive- - were products of this Virgo star - - yeah, the bright one- -
civilization. This is the same Star that
is mixed fifty fifty for the Druanians- - and Sirius A is the other half of the
Druanians. However in 1982 the Dodgers
were cosmically acquired by the Rhondonians - - we made reference to them last
week. However now they are owned by the
Taccomans. This is the group that took
over the Federation in 1991 - - -and bred a lot of ill will with people like
Mal Evans. There is one Romulan album
for some reason the Taccomans took a fancy to and re released in late March of
1991 - - that featured the majority of tracks from a Romulan album called “Revolter”
released in mid summer 1971, twenty years previous. One of the rarer tracks on this album was “Big
wheel - - spin – spin – little wheel turn around, around” by Buffy St Marie,
who is a “Mariner” (Marin group) and from
the same group as Melanie and Joni Mitchell.
I had a bunch of other cosmic stuff I was going to unload on you. Randy Meisner is the only original Eagles
member- - to spit the Sirius A hook and be independent- - and has reverted to
the non Edomite Centaurian- - who live on Gimini (of course, that’s
logical) Bernie Leaden is a Sirius A in
good standing as are Glen Fry now, and Don Hendley and Don Felder. Note: Don
Mc Leen is a “59th Street Gang” member.
