Do Bees and Don't Bees

This is December 31, 2016 and tomorrow is the New Year and a lot of “agregious” laws go into effect in the state of California.  There are new regulations on Uber drivers.  The statewide minimum wage goes up which for a lot of people is seemingly a bad thing because they argue small businesses will be impacted.  They’ll sure as hell be affected with the two dollar tobacco tax goes into effect whenever it does.  A lot of Quickie Marts do a lot of their business in cigarettes.  And of course there are new regulations for gun owners.  It seems that magazines will be harder to reload so if you are a crazed homicidal shooter it will take you longer to reload to kill even more people.  Gun owners can only think of that sniper in your bedroom.   We’re getting more rain tonight so it could be said that the weather man is already fulfilling his Newyears resolution to end the drought.   Cory Gardener gives the Republican response address on KNX.  He’s talking about the accomplishments of this Republican congress.  We all agree we want cancer research fast-tract.  “Republicans have led the way on mental health reform and opiate addiction”.   New sanctions on North Korea were levied.  So apparently the President isn’t as intransigent as the Republicans have been claiming.  Chris was telling me this morning that the law is a funny thing.  Some people say “The law is an ass”.   Chris can’t give people rides in his car around here because is the liability award is greater than Chris’ insurance, then the people have the right to come after the owners of this place and sue them.  Of course you know what FDR says about a lot of Republican ideas.  He says mockingly “We Republicans are not opposed to all of these social and monetary reforms of the Democrats.  It’s just that we can do it better and more efficiently and most importantly- - it won’t cost Anybody Anything!” said to laughter.  So the new year brings a lot of new Do Bees and Don’t Bees, to harken back to the Romper Room days.  So I thought of comenting on the beatitudes, we’ll just call the Bee Attitudes.  After all the Sermon n the Mount is filled with a lot of Do Bees and Don’t Bees.

From "having the liberty to do anything we want" as St Paul intones, there are sure a lot of Do's and Don't in the Sermon on the Mount.  We are told that blessed are those who are peace makers for God will call them his sons.  We are told "Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven".  I'm sure Donald Trump must chafe every time he hears that one.  We are told blessed are those who morn.  They will be comforted.  We are told "Blessed are those who are persecuted for My sake".   We all like to think of people will put their lives and reputation on the line for a good cause.  Unfortunately protestors these days get scared off pretty easily.  And the ones who hang in there during bad weather, Norman Goldman refers to as fools.  We were told when the weather got cold that this is the reason why the "Occupy Wall Street" movement withered away.  This is where we originally heard about the 99 percent and the one percent back in the fall of 2011.  Rather than be praised for their tenacity by the media- - - they were either ignored or portrayed as a rag tag bunch of nothings.  Jesus said "Don't fear him who has the power to kill the body but do nothing to the soul.  Rather fear Him who has the power to kill both the body and the soul".  I don't know if Jesus is revering to the Devil this point or who.  We are told a lot of things.  We are told to turn the other cheek.  Foreign policy could never be conducted that way.  We are told if a man sues you and takes your coat, give him your cloak also.  This assumes people wore suit and coats all the time but only put their outer overcoat on during the dead of winter.  We are told that if someone compels you to walk one mile with him and carry his pack, then go with him two miles.  Presunably this is said because you'll have more of an oppertunity to witness to him.  We are told not to pray in public.  We are to pray in our secret chamber where we will not be seen.  We are told not to use flowery language when we pray to be a show-off but rather to pray directly and humbly for the things we need.  And we are told "Whatever you ask for in my name- - I will grant it".  We all would dearly love for that one to be true.  We are told "Ask, seek, knock" because to every man who asks he will get an answer.  However if there is a three AM knock on the door and the guy says "Go away" and you keep knocking you are taking an awful risk with your friendship.  As Dr Phil would say, "You just raised the price of poker".  Either there will be a pay-off at the end and you will be given the things you need- - or else your friendship is very much at risk.  I do not suggest that we put Jesus to the test on this one.  I think there are a lot of areas where literally following Jesus' example is risky.

We have yet another rock compilation for you.  I’m not talking about a collection of igneous rocks.  There are so many of these rock compilations you love track of them after a while but this one, an expanded Two CD version of “Trail Mix” is out today.   CD one is identical to the version out on April 20th of 2015.   Many at the Federation have been wanting to do “Celebration of the Lizard” by the Doors for a long time.  Both of these CD’s are kind of a tribute to the year 1970.   The front photo is sort of cut out letters of “Trail” and “Mix” cocked slightly to the left and the letters are made up of granola.   They are on an olive green backdrop.  On the back is a photo of Planet Earth and some technical production credits in small print.  On the inside are the song listings for both CD’s.   It’s actually mostly a picture booklet of various photos mainly of either rock festivals or else protests occurring from the years 1970 and 1971 but Woodstock is not included.    Many of the tracks on Disc Two were originally on “In Vetro Disasters” released on May 13th of 2015, which is a secret Romulan holiday, if you’re curious.  We kicked off four Mc Cartney songs.  The first two songs we kicked off now kick off the revised “Best of Mc Cartney”, which I am inform this compilation with the new song line-up has existed since January of 2016 about the time as our “Ringo” album.   There is still a lot of Paul Mc Cartney on this album, but not as much as there was.   There is also kind of a thematic slap at Alcyonne for all of the curses they have caused over the years.  Jimi Hendrix is a Lanian, which in a way is kind of “Getting along with the dark side of the Force”.   This track appeared as the first track on side two of “War Heroes” an album which is probably out of print now.  Yoco Ono is also a Lanian.  So is the University of Oregon.   When I heard “Vanilla Sky” I thought of one of these Fancy Feast catfood commercials where the cat eats cat food out of a crystal glass bowl.  Actually Disc Two has thirteen songs.  We gave two Mother’s Day songs the axe because I’m told “We didn’t know about the deaths of Carrie Fisher and Debby Reynolds when we were putting this album together”.   I don’t think it’d have made any difference.  The two that run together are “The One You Wanted to Be” and “Dress Me Up As a Robber” were originally listed as different tracks on “Tug of War”.   * This track can be found on the Bob Dylan Bootleg CD series near the end of Disk two.

So What Is The Truth About "Meeting God"?

I guess the only really “good” so called scientific evidence one needs to determine the truth about an encounter with God, is whether or not it will make a good movie plot.  For instance we “learn” from the “Oh God” movies that God makes mistakes.  He made man and woman sexually ashamed about their own nudity.  And he also made the avocado pit too big.  Then we have the movie about a steam bath with men and women wrapped only in towels and God is a Latino dressed in a towel also.  And this one woman was saying “Why did I have to die just after I had my first orgasm?”  And this is a god who arbitrarily metes out both blessings and penalties on sort of a quota basis and then he goes “That’s enough for right now”.   So I should explain what it’s like to be dead in terms that would spark a movie producer’s imagination.  I have said that when you are on the “other side” (of the engram wall) that you become pure CAUSE and you are transported out of this present world of EFFECT.  But then I asked myself what makes this a world of EFFECTS and not causes?   Well part of it is that everybody responds to events that just seem to “happen” often without adequate explanation, things like Donald Trump’s election.  But then I got to thinking the one power dead people may have is one we attribute to angels and demons.  That is “putting thoughts in people’s minds”.   Sometimes they’re nice about and identify themselves.  And they don’t compel you but merely make definite suggestions.   But sometimes I imagine if they don’t want to be so “nice” then they won’t identify themselves and they won’t make it a matter of discretionary moral choice either.  They won’t merely plant a strong notion or idea in your mind.  They will go right to the subconscious like a post hypnotic suggestion and you will find yourself doing things and you have no actual idea or explanation why you are doing them.  I happened to think of last Sunday’s program and surely the greatest divide between CAUSE and EFFECT would be the computer programmer and the computer program.  The program has no will of its own.  No matter how intelligent it appears to be when run on the computer- - the program lacks an original thought of its own.  How many of you creative types feel there days when “I haven’t got an original thought in my mind”.    Every conclusion or decision a program comes to is programmed into it ahead of time.  But wouldn’t you like to be the guy who is, for instance, programming Donald Trump’s brain.  I have had fleeting ideas of praying for Trump or some might say “preying for Trump” that God would put only responsible thoughts into his mind so that he didn’t screw up the country.  You have no doubt this would make a good movie plot and even a better series.  I could easily imagine coming up with thirty hour long episodes.  Perhaps this notion of programming people’s mind all in advance so that you have your “menu for today” of what you would like the people around you to be doing - - - would get tiresome after say six or seven months of seeing nothing but TV plots on the subject.  But it opens up the question of power point earning like if you have five blue merit cards you can trade them in for one red cards, and red cards give you more power over more people.  And people would buy and sell and exchange these merit cards to have the right or “sell the right” to get power over people.  Some may ask “Why would you voluntarily give up the right to control the minds of your enemies?  Oh, I don’t know- - perhaps sex with seventy-two virgins or something.  There are all sorts of possibilities here in the land of CAUSE - - but don’t put your chessboard away yet.   I believe there are a lot of psychic chess matches.

In 1980 President Jimmy Carter put sanctions on wheat to Russia because they invaded Afghanistan.  The Republicans were against both this and the boycotting of the Moscow Olympics.  So in this current day and age we find President Obama getting tough with Russia yesterday and it isn’t going over very well in the Trump administration.  President Trump is just going to undo whatever sanctions President Obama slapped on Russia yesterday.  The President also kicked out three dozen diplomats and other people.  Now there is talk that Putin will take reprisals on the Americans for what the President did yesterday.  He can’t win for losing.  The latest news is that Putin won’t deport US diplomats from Russia.  He is doing this to cultivate good relations with President elect Trump.  It’s as though Trump’s already president.  He makes these deals with companies to keep jobs and is taking credit because the stock market is up ten percent since his election.  And as we have said before- - every glimmer of hope gets crushed by reality.  I don’t know about this three hour window the democrats have to confirm Justice Meric Garland to the High Court.  Thom Hartman says “If it were the Republicans they wouldn’t think twice about doing it, but the democrats aren’t that smart.  It’s legal to do but the democrats won’t do it”.   The next “ray of hope” will be that is Trump’s ascension to office will be marred by scads of protests all over the country and that somehow “this time” the media will cover it, when we know from experience they don’t cover protests except to give them bad press.  We are going to hear the media saying nothing but nice things about President Trump when he is inaugurated.
I’m going to check Washington’s blog right now.  Here it goes.  After coming under attack, the alternative media successfully appropriated and reassigned the now ubiquitous term “fake news” to a variety of disingenuous mainstream media outlets. The corporate media is not too happy about this, and it’s doing what it does best (aside from cheerleading for war); it’s whining about it to its readers.  Nothing more perfectly highlights the mainstream media’s instinctual response to complain than an article published on Christmas Day in The New York Times, which reinvents history by claiming alternative media is to blame for turning “fake news” into an overly expansive and thus meaningless term.   Once again the ones telling the truth are the ones criticized.  Don't dare accuse so called left wing news outlets of being the perveyors of "fake news".  Don't call the concencus of seven intelligence agencies about Russia and the CIA as being "fake news".  Don't accuse 97% of the world's scientists who believe Global Warming is a reality-- don't accuse them of fake news.  And I still say that Trump's mental state is at least questionable.  And others on the right used to agree with me.  But Trump has cast a spell over them all now so that people that formerly said horrible things about him now march in lock step behind him.
“Trail Mix” is another of our albums that have been hyped by the Federation these past few days.  This is unchanged on content from the original of April 20th 2015.  There are only about two overlaps.  These are “One of Nature’s Children” overlapping with that Marcus’s Picks album just released, and also “What’s Going On” by Marvyn Gaye from “Soul Train” of whatever it’s called from May of 2006.   In terms of “The Best of the Middle” this one has been dropped everywhere except as a Romulan import, and the title has been changed to “He Didn’t Notice that the Lights had Changed”.   The album is selling well on Regelus V.  Today is December 30, 2016 and we have rain.  Stephanie Miller was once again in reruns, and so was in reruns the entire week.  Thom Hartman is just coming on.  The Republicans are now touting the “Replace” portion of “Repeal and Replace” as “Universal Access”.  It’s like you have the right to buy a Mazeratti but don’t hang around the dealership too long without being prepared to talk seriously about forking over a little mullah and buying a car.  The Republicans have a two part adage of “Number one: Don’t get sick.”  And number two is. “And if you do get sick die quickly”.   There is a persistent rumor that once Trump becomes president the government is going to destroy the vast amount of work they’d done in global warming research.  Now they are scrambling to preserve as much of that data as they can.  Of course they already have a statute that the government can’t keep information on the physical and mental damage done by the polifferation of firearms.  Their adage seems to be “See no evil, hear no evil, say no evil’ like the three not-so-wise monkeys.  Thom Hartman speaks of danger signals the economy has been sending out as of late that we are about to enter another recession.  Mortgage rates have already begun to climb significantly.  We have rain this morning.  We’ve had four inches before this latest storm in the month of December and it’s the most sustained rain period we’d have since 2010 – 2011 turn of the year.  And this comports with my memories.  One good thing is that this lame duck congress never got around to passing the Trans Pacific Partnership.  Good.

One idea definitely presents itself.  The first two pieces on the Best of Mc Cartney 2 CD album of late June of 2014 has two songs that aren’t from the solo record era.  The obvious solution is to put MUMBO and I CAN SEE THE WORLD TONIGHT by way of substitution for the first two tracks.  So far the powers that be haven’t given thumbs up on it.

Things We Should Already Know

Powerful Entities Really DO Know, but Like to think We're Stupid

We’ve known for 5,000 years that mass spying on one’s own people is usually aimed at grabbing power and crushing dissent, not protecting us from bad guys.

We’ve known for 4,000 years that debts need to be periodically written down, or the entire economy will collapse. And see this.

We’ve known for 2,500 years that prolonged war bankrupts an economy.

We’ve known for 2,000 years that wars are based on lies.

We’ve known for 1,900 years that runaway inequality destroys societies. … and leads to revolution.

We’ve known for 1,700 years that torture is a form of terrorism.

We’ve known for thousands of years that debasing currencies leads to economic collapse.

We’ve known for millenia that – when criminals are not punished – crime spreads.

We’ve known for thousands of years that the rich and powerful try to censor their critics under the guise of heresy.

We’ve known for hundreds of years that the failure to punish financial fraud destroys economies, as it destroys all trust in the financial system.

We’ve known for centuries that monopolies and the political influence which accompanies too much power in too few hands are dangerous for free markets.

We’ve known for hundreds of years that companies will try to pawn their debts off on governments, and that it is a huge mistake for governments to allow corporate debt to be backstopped by government.

We’ve known for centuries that powerful people – unless held to account – will get together and steal from everyone else.

We’ve known for hundreds of years that standing armies and warmongering harm Western civilization.

We’ve known for over 300 years that going into debt to pay for war ruins any nation.

We’ve known for 200 years that allowing private banks to control credit creation eventually destroys the nation’s prosperity.

We’ve known for two centuries that a fiat money system – where the money supply is not pegged to anything real – is harmful in the long-run.

We’ve known for 200 years that a two-party system quickly becomes corrupted.

We’ve known for over a century that torture produces false and useless information.

We’ve known since the 1930s Great Depression that separating depository banking from speculative investment banking is key to economic stability. See this, this, this and this.

We’ve known for 80 years that inflation is a hidden tax.

We’ve known for 79 years that war is a racket that benefits the elites but harms everyone else.

We’ve known since 1988 that quantitative easing doesn’t work to rescue an ailing economy.

We’ve known since 1993 that derivatives such as credit default swaps – if not reined in – could take down the economy. And see this.

We’ve known since 1998 that crony capitalism destroys even the strongest economies, and that economies that are capitalist in name only need major reforms to create accountability and competitive markets.

We’ve known since 2007 or earlier that lax oversight of hedge funds could blow up the economy.

And we knew before the 2008 financial crash and subsequent bailouts that:
The easy credit policy of the Fed and other central banks, the failure to regulate the shadow banking system, and “the use of gimmicks and palliatives” by central banks hurt the economy
Anything other than (1) letting asset prices fall to their true market value, (2) increasing savings rates, and (3) forcing companies to write off bad debts “will only make things worse”
Bailouts of big banks harm the economy
The Fed and other central banks were simply transferring risk from private banks to governments, which could lead to a sovereign debt crisis

Postscript: Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it … and we’ve known that for a long time.

Is Donald Trump Mentally Incompetent To Be President?

Norman Goldman was musing about whether the 25th Amendment of the Constitution would ever come into play with President Trump.  So many people say he’s a classic sociopath, which is maybe a “condition” if not an actual psychiatric illness.  He is driven by the guiding principle of “When I want something I go out and take it with total disregard to either the rights or the wants of his neighbors.  Of course this is what so many of the very wealthy are like.  The say it would work is the 25th Amendment provides a body to be legislated into existence by congress and this body could send a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate saying that the President is incompetent to exercise his duties of the office of President and must by law step down.  Presumably this would be “until such time as the President is again able to assume the duties of the office”.   We’ve all heard of this deal struck where Vice President Mike Pence would actually be running the day to day affairs of the country anyhow.  If this sounds like some desperate ploy of us liberals perhaps it is.  We’re desperate all right.  We had thoughts of somehow influencing the Electoral College and those plans fell flat on their face.

When one watches Donald Trump's convention speech one sees the fascist appeal of it continually speaking of public danger and how he will be our protector.  He says "That's government's job to protect the public from all of these dark threats looming everywhere.  Next is the promise of a fantastic future.  Trump thinks he's already president the way he announces the saving of all these US jobs.  But we neglect to see the downside of Trump's message at our peril.  We all know what the Republican rich want is a cleptocracy.  They want to steal from the poor and give to the rich.  Ronald Reagan's "great tax reform bill" of 1986, the one they are most proud of, takes from the working class and gives to the rich.  The substitute for Thom Hartman today was mentioning medicare.  And we know the Republicans didn't really "choose" Donald Trump.  They chose Paul Ryan and they did that in the fall of 2015.  And they liked and chose Paul Ryan because Ryan wants to dismantle not just Obamacare but even more importantly Medicare.  That's a pool of potential insurance money they can't wait to get their hands on.  Many of these Republicans are so indebted and loyal to corporations they forget who they are working for and who voted them- - technically into office.  Their tenure of government service is merely an apprenticeship to what they really want to do and that is to be lobbyists.  They want to abolish Social Security because all that money could be better invested with stock brokers and Wall Street insiders and manipulators.  Charles Linburgh in an interview once said the Federal Reserve wields more power than any set of human beings should ever be trusted with in our constitutional form of government.  They have the power to make the economy crash at will and they could do it right now if they wanted to.  The talk show host said that Social Security is 99% efficient in handling our FICA payments and 99% of that money comes back to the people who paid into it.  (and often much more than that)  No private insurance company is thatr efficient with their funds and the same goes for Wall Street banksters.  They want to weaken medicare by stripping out the upcoming base of the young which will be coming up.  If you get rid of future payers then even if the payments are preserved for those over 55 or whatever, then the system is doomed.  Liberals want to do just the opposite.  They want to expand medicare to move the age younger and younger so that we eventually have single payer, which is the most efficient system.

Now we hear that Debby Reynolds, mother of Carrie Fisher- - passed away today one day after her daughter passed away.  When has such a mother-daughter double death occurred like this?  But I don't agree that Carrie Fisher "needed to lose weight" to play the part of Princess Leah.  I've seen photos of Princess Leah where she appears almost anerexic.  Apparently the part of Princess Leah was a pioneer role for aspiring young females.  Of course Captain Kathryn Janeway was a macho woman who was fully in control of the ship she captained on Deep Space 9.

One Taco Short of a Combo (Trump’s Convention Speech excerpt) 10:10 edited

The front photo of the latest Sirius A album- - out in vinyl and CD- - is of a “Tacoria” taco place and there is one line (to the left) with the lead customer being handed a combo plate and there is a line to the right where the customer still hasn’t been served. Hillary is standing between these two lines eating a taco. The title “One Taco Short of a Combo” refers not to Donald Trump’s mental state but rather that Hillary was “Eating” Sander’s votes- - votes which Bernie Sanders would have gotten for President on Tuesday. On the bottom of the back of the album are the popular vote tallies from 2016 and 2012. It so happens that Romney got more votes than did Trump. Romney got sixty million votes and Trump got not quite sixty thousand votes being high in the 59’s. The rest of the back is kind of an off white background with the album contents listed in fairly big letters.

The preceding was transcribed from November.  If anyone on this planet at least is going to listen to the “One Taco Short” album of ours from November we’re going to have to change the last track. And so we have settled on something and it happens to work out exactly right time-wise. This is a portion of Donald Trump’s convention speech. It’s the portion from 4:00 to 14:30. Here are the topics he covers. First there is an extended bit on “safety in the streets” and then Trump goes on to talk about Immigration. Then he speaks of the economy and minority unemployment. Then he covers the horrible treaty he says we made with Iran on nuclear diarmlement. Finally he speaks of the “red line in the sand” drew in Syria and Trumps “And we know that meant absolutely nothing”. It’s amazing how close the time is.  We had twenty seconds of cheering by the partisan crowd to work with.  To edit out.

In other items, Elizabeth doesn’t me wearing my red jacket into the dining room because she and Federico say it’s too dirty.  Are they saying that I’m dirtier than anyone else here?  It also happens to be my warmest jacket.   My readership numbers in my blogs still aren’t what they ought to be.  I have Norman Goldman on right now.  Ron has really been generous with the cigarettes and just now I got one from Paul.   I went for refreshments from Rico in the courtyard and had two cups of lemonade.

I guess I have a resolution or two I want to make this year.  I would like to be more spontaneous and generous both materially but emotionally than I have tended to be.  It is also my goal to quit smoking as of January first.  Of course if rumor has it right, the hike in tobacco taxes won’t take place till April first.  That would give me three months but I don’t need that much time to stall in my resolve.  The sooner I quit the better.  I have only one day to go before I get paid and people have been generous with their white cigarettes.  This includes Ron, Glenda, and Bill.  I appreciate that.  But I would also like to be more organized.  I really should clean out the dresser because it’s too stuffed with clothes I don’t wear.  I’ll probably be getting more clothes to put in it.  But I’d also like to provide a better organized front to my blog readers.  I guess if I always spelled names correctly and spoke in perfect grammar maybe I would gain a little more respectability, even if it’s self respectability.  I also desperately need to organize topics into an appropriate blog.  This is a hell of a lot easier said than done.  The least I could do is to provide links like Washington’s blog does to ease the learning curve for my readers, if they happen not to be familiar with the background on something.  I’ll give an example.  This spiral staircase thing.  The conception was that they were twelve by thirteen by five triangles and each succeeding one was about 22 degrees to the right of the previous one and it would be 13/12th larger than the previous one.  I came up with those numbers a long time ago.  If people have a problem with the words I use I realize they need certain terms defined better and links would help here.

We Need a Democratic Congress Now

Democratic congressmen and women are holding an old fashioned  “sit in” demonstration on the House floor demanding a vote on the latest gun bill.    If they would do an up or down bill of the entire House - - often a bill under consideration will pass but the speaker of the House won’t allow it in some invocation of the ‘Haster doctrine’.  The other day in the Senate all four gun proposals went down to defeat.  But on Tuesday Senator Susan Collins assembled an eight person bi-partisan committee to support a compromise bill.   If no gun legislation is this session I believe it will bode dire consequences for the Republicans in congress this November.   At least 85% of the American public want action on gun regulation now.  In other news Donald Trump gave his long awaited speech against Hillary Clinton.  To me the thing was a dud because we’ve heard it all before.  The two candidates are talking past each other always pointing out the other’s weakness, and both sides cheer for their own man or woman as the case may be.   Donald Trump still hasn’t made his taxes available to the public.  This “audit” he’s been talking about has been going on for months and months and Trump is almost opening the door to saying it will still be going on election day so we’ll never see his taxes.  We don’t know how rich Donald Trump is.  Maybe he’s broke.  We don’t know.

In terms of ISIS verses gun legislation I see no reason why we can't have concerns about both.  That should make Shawn Hannity happy. But Democrats have concerns too, even about ISIS.  We also wish ISIS didn’t exist.  But if we topple Assad of Syria then ISIS troops will overrun the whole country with no one to stop them and there will be hell to pay then.  People will be slaughtered in the streets.  Christians, women, Jews, and other minorities won’t stand a chance.  Ancient historic cultural sites won’t stand a chance and will be sacked and destroyed.  There was a caller on the Thom Hartman show the other day who mentioned all of this.  But as soon as he mentioned Hillary’s name, Hartmann cut him off and began yelling at him as being some kind of an anti Hillary plant.  Of course Hillary takes millions from Saudi Arabia where women and gays and Christian and Jews have no rights and they use the death penalty for everything under the sun.   Let’s make no mistake about it.  We need a candidate who is serious about eliminating ISIS as a first priority.  If it requires “boots on the ground” then so be it.   In terms of strategy I’ll have to agree with Donald Trump.  I’ve often found that my chance of winning in a chess game, particularly a good player, is when the unpredictability factor is higher.  I believe we need s leader who is perceived as unpredictable because unpredictability makes a lot of people insecure.

Yesterday Hillary really made a major speech attacking Trump and Trump today gave his major speech against Hillary that he was planning to give before Orlando happened.  People want to know whether Trump is serious about bringing back jobs.  If he really wants to help the poor, that’s the way to do it.  The populists are the nationalists when it comes to the economy and it’s the elite on both sides who are the internationalists.  Thom Hartman reminds us that the one way that Trump might defeat Hillary is on the area of this international trade and trade deals.  Hillary had better get her act together on this issue.  The Obama administration has been leaning hard on England to vote to stay in the European Economic Community.  It’s a little unusual to interfere in a foreign election like that.  Rush Limbaugh even agrees that getting OUT of the European Community would be a good thing because Britain’s culture is being lost due to all of this immigration which is suddenly legal.  Rush says the elite don’t want any international borders of any kind, and that’s a bad thing.  I think a dose of cultural nationalism is a good thing as well as economic nationalism.   But the other issue to come to the foreground now is Trump saying “Debt is a good thing, if you know how to use it, and I do”.  Trump has declared bankruptsy four times.  The average American no matter economically strapped they are- - don’t get to declare bankruptsy even once.  A lot of people in thousands of dollars of college debt would love to be able to be given a fresh start by the government.  How come a rich person like Trump gets to do that four times.   Trump like Judy is perfectly willing to suspend logic.  If the law allows you to do that then you’re “smart” to be able to use the law.  So Trump is smart at manipulating the laws to his own advantage, and therefore would not work to see any changes in these laws.  How many people were thrown out of work because Trump had his golden parachute leaving employees to fend for themselves.  Trump speaks of jobs coming back to the USA but Trummp, like Judy,  says that it’s “necessary” or expedient that goods be made overseas because it’s the law of the jungle or survival of the fittest or whatever “Christian” explanation you care to employ (he said laughing).   Certainly this behavior is anything but Christian but republicans just want to be CALLED Christians and identify with this “Christian voting bloc” but they don’t want to adopt Christian morals.   Trump has spoken of the government defaulting on the national debt and giving bond holders fifty cents on the dollar.  If that ever happened the world would be thrown into an international depression.   Those of you who think that Trump is an economic whiz had better think again.   The world may be a much less safe place.   I haven’t even listened to Trump’s speech this morning.  I may add to these remarks when I do.

Wally was out there talking about the yard, and Scagg’s drugstore and other stuff and mentioned Ronald Reagan and “Death Valley days”.   I’ve never been to Death Valley but one time when we were in southern Nevada we started down the road to Death Valley and after a few minutes we turned around.   “Days” was brought to you by 20 Mule Team Borax.  Of course in the “Carrssel of Progress” in Disneyland they featured a color TV showing shoot em up Westerns.  But Westerns would be on their way out soon.  Ronald Reagan was known as a good speech maker in those days and parents said he was a far right conservative propagandist.   He ran against George Christopher for governor and on June 7th I recorded the election results kicking off 3rd Mastro and it was still light when Christopher made the announcement that “The voter profile analyses indicators do not augur well for my candidacy.   1966 was a year of uncertainty.  The stock market peaked out in early February.  You wonder whether the anxiety caused people to want to turn to some other kind of drug.  They were interviewing William Auld for pastor in the summer of 1966 and Auld had the magazine “God is Dead” out and people asked him about that and he assured them that wasn’t his belief.  I’ve always wondered what the statement behind the statement really was that “God is Dead”.  Maybe it was a drug induced LSD revelation some person got that “God is Dead” or something.  Of course people were reading lyrics into songs in those days.  The most obvious of which is “Along Comes Mary” about marijuana.  You had “Strangers in the Night” being about homosexuals, and “Day Tripper was about a prostitute and “Norwegian Wood” was about a lesbian, and “Puff, the Magic Drag On” was about toking marijuana.   And people came to say that “Yellow Submarine” referred to another name for yellow jackets.

According to Norman Goldman just now - - California is now nuclear free.  They are closing down both the San Onofre and the Diablo Canyon nuclear plants, and they aren't coming back.   I'm assuming that carbon tax is in effect.  Judy said a couple of years ago that when the carbon tax takes effect in California the whole economy is going to fall apart and that hasn't happened.  The right wing loves to engage in scare tacticts.  The best minds have now concluded that damage to the economy from minimum wage hike is - - minimal.  Strangely if we pass immigration reform and 'bring in aliens out of the shadows" then these people will be reporting their income and we'll have more tax revenue.  Not only will a corporate tax hike not harm business but it will help the employment picture because people will use hiring employees and the like as an "expense" write off to balance against their higher corporate income that they would otherwise just horde.  That's what they do, they horde it and don't put that earned income in circulation to help the economy.  The golden rule in taxes is that you penalize the behavior you want to discourage, and you provide financial incentives for the type of behavior you want to encourage.  How else can you explain the explosion of the Clinton economy in late 1994.  And remember if you try and cut capital gains taxes too much at one time it will start a securities selling stampede.  Donald Trump doesn't want that does he, a few months after he takes office.

The Longest Day of the Year

Today is the longest day of the year, and the hottest.  They predicted this heatwave a whole week in advance and rightly predicted yesterday and today would set records. The summer solistis point and the exact moment of the full moon are hours from each other.  They call this the “Strawberry Moon” but it’s also called the ‘Honey Moon’ and the “Rose Moon”.   Great day for an arson at the old mental asylum.  Shawn is interviewing Abigail about what she remembers about the cause of the fire but only to realize she is non compus mentus and remembers her dead husband trying to rescue her.  Meanwhile Parker hasn’t suddenly turned eighteen like all the other kids they’ve had on the show.  He’s still a little boy.  Clowie hasn’t yet informed Nicole that Demas is alive and in her apartment.  In the news there was a rumor that Bernie Sanders owes the DNC a lot of money but I can’t find out for what.  Trump fired his campaign manager, Cory Luendauski, or whatever.  Hopefully the replacement will be better.  Frangela this morning said that Donald Trump is a perfect specimine of the composite worst humanity has to offer.  Apple has announced that he won’t sponsor the Republican convention in Cleveland no doubt because of their LGBT stance being likely.  They decided to delete Omar Metin’s pledge to ISIS, which was spoken in Arabic in the phone call transcript.  The justification for it is they don’t want to give Islam any more praise.  The US Senate rejects gun control bids but “new compromises are sought”.  Meanwhile the Supreme Court says that banning some semi-automatic rifles are OK.  Fifty years ago this month “Dark Shadows” began as a long running soap opera right before "Where the Action Is".  I only watched it occasionally.  This summer fifty years ago was when Grandma bought her red Dodge Charger, and Tim only sold it a few weeks ago and says that he doesn’t miss it.  It’s a family icon.  And it was fifty years ago this summer that “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf” came out, which plumed new horizons in sintilating dialog.  Music was just becoming drug oriented.  “We’ve Been Running Around” by the Jefferson Airplane was banned because it has the line “The nights I’ve spent with you have been fantastic trips”, with the LSD allusion.  We had “Psychotic Reaction” later in the summer.  “Sunshine Superman” was another pioneer album by Donavin, a classic, with “Mellow Yellow” kicking off the smoking banana craze later in the year.  “The Spirit of 67” was an album title that jumped the gun by Paul Revere and the Raiders”.  And there was "Eight Miles High" a pioneer album by the Byrds. “Paint It Black” and “Over, Under, Sideways Down” were two more psychedelic songs making the charts.  The photo is of the Beatles fifty years ago doing their last live TV show ever. The Beatles ran into trouble with the butcher block cover of “Yesterday and Today” and got in trouble with Marcos touring the Philipines.  Meanwhile I was struggling with quadratic equations in summer school at Kennedy. You could buy a sixteen ounce bottle of Royal Crown cola for sixteen cents including the returnable glass bottle.  Now the news is that shopping malls are pase and it’s no longer a good place to pick up girls.  That was true with the Anaheim Mall in 1992 just before they closed down the place entirely.  Now that’s happening all over the country even in ‘Classic malls”.  I went out and smoked these fat, stubby white rollie butts that burn quickly and irregularly and are hard to smoke because they weren’t rolled well.  Any breeze you feel is like the hot blast of a dryer.  We were limited to one glass of iced tea from Rico in the courtyard because he had to take the cart to the Senior Topics class.  Fifty years ago your dollar went a lot further.  You could buy a restaurant dinner out for a buck fifty and cigarettes cost only 35 cents, or even less.  You don’t see either cigarette machines or phone booths any more.  And now many mail boxes have you seen on the street lately.  Much fewer than just twenty years ago.  I guess this is important if you have your young grandchildren asking “Gramps, tell us what it was like in the old days”.  This was the first year 1966 – 1967 when for the first time the entire evening’s line-up featured shows in color.  Maybe the Beatles went bye-bye for months on end (too many people burning their albums in the south) but now you had the Monkees to take their place in television.  The Beatles stopped touring and stopped appearing on TV variety shows.

The Cleveland Cavileers defeated the GS Warriors in game seven 93 to 89 to win the NBA championship.  I missed the award presentation because I was out looking for cigarettes.  Bill seemed to be boycotting the game or something.  It was still hot outside at a quarter to eight, which was the last time I was outside because the AC worked so well in here and the AC actually was still going on after I went to bed which was admittedly early.  I came back in and Lebran James was holding his MVP award.   It was a see-saw score and they said the score was tied eleven times and perhaps more during the game.  I turned on the game right at six and they were getting ready to perform the National Anthem.  The Golden State crowd was loud and in evidence the entire game.  I haven’t heard from anybody from the Federation, where I presume at least Bones was all gung ho that the Cavileers had won.  It was the first national championship in any sport for Cleveland since the Browns won the NFL championship in 1964.  The game ended perhaps twenty to eight.  After this I had some program on KNXT but I dozed off before nine and went to bed.  The covers seem to come off the bare mattress.  The mattress has needed replacing since I got it because it’s always been rock hard, and now it has holes in it.

I got medication from Tom and the line was about half way to the front door.  I woke before five thirty and was restless.  I took a cooler shower than usual but it wasn’t straight cold.  I had problems trying to get a cigarette but there were some of those white rollie butts at the other table to smoke.  I turned on Francis and Angela and they are holding down the fort for Stephanie this week while Stephanie was out bike riding at a hundred miles a stretch.  I’m on too much medication to trust myself riding a bike, certainly any distance.  I am out of money, of course.  Thom Hartman doesn’t speak French and worries whether the French people hold it against him for that.  We had oatmeal for breakfast followed by an omelet and half an English muffin with the jelly already on it.  I got two cups of black coffee from Rico, which I needed because at times I’m restless and tired at the same time.  I got my medication from Ida and that was a short line.  Glen was wearing a jacket of all things, and Phyllis Green was wearing a sweatshirt.  Already at a quarter to eight it showed signs of getting really hot.

I called Mom after breakfast.  I was worried I didn’t remember her phone number.  I need to write it down just in case I have a mental lapse.  Judy had a stroke on Saturday and is in St Jude’s hospital in Fullerton.  This is where Dad was when he had his ulcer.  I remember it was fifty years ago yesterday on a Sunday (Father’s Day) when Dad was out after four weeks in the hospital.  As I recall it was a hot day and we went to the beach and Dad picked us up or something. Judy was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease as of a few weeks ago but Paul was keeping that news from us.  This would impact her GNLD business because Judy never tires of informing us of all the government forms she has to fill out by law.  Paul took off work to be with Judy, which makes the whole thing sound pretty serious.  I assume he didn’t want to give out any tentative or incorrect information.  I’m hoping of course to speak with Paul directly.  I was curious how Mom is faring under this extreme heat.  I looked in Google News and they said it was predicted to be 107 degrees but that was in La Canada.  Tomorrow they are predicting 91 for La Canada, which should make it a lot cooler here.  Now they are talking about all of the inbreeding of European Royalty.  So there is a lot of hemophilia and insanity rampant.  Thom Hartman wants us to think about white, rich, male privilege and how out of touch the rich are with the rest of us.  Mom still gets ice water delivered more than once a day and I keep reminding Mom to drink water.  I told her about Bill’s doctor problems.

It's the Same Ol' Same Ol'

The media can't tell you what to think- - but they can tell you what to think About... Meditate on the Truth of this statement with me now.

Norman Goldman once again talked about being ready to make compromises.  First we have to get back to where we were nine years ago in mid 2007 when the democrats held congress and the economy was really humming along.  In fact we haven’t yet gotten back to that level of economic activity we had then.  Certainly we are more pessimistic about the future than we were then.  I am totally perplexed at Norman Goldman’s frame of reference when he speaks of this “compromise” we’ll need to do.  We are totally beaten down.  The last time the Republicans had a president who wasn’t hard right and therefore could be said to have “made compromises” was Richard Nixon, and Republicans regard him as a failure and never invited him back to speak at conventions.  It’s my belief that the democrats should treat President Obama the same way if they’re going to be consistent.  This president’s speeches are toxic in that their only effect is to enable tons of Republican right wing response.  It seems clear to me the only thing Norman Goldman wants us to think about is "loving".  In one thing I agree with Donald Trump.  Winning is a heck of a lot better than losing and winning is what we have to start doing.  How absurd it would be for a champion sports team like the Cleveland Cavileers to suddenly "think about" somehow compromising as if that would cause them to win the final game that they would be unable to win on sheer merit.  As the saying goes "A victory has a thousand fathers; a defeat is an orphan".  The whole appeal of Hillary as a candidate is not so much planning to be a winner by rolling out a clear sighted political agenda, but just hoping not to lose.

Self destructive behavior is horrible.  Omar Mateen or whatever his name is, has this horrible secret he's kept inside him, and I don't mean the shingles virus.  Starting Tuesday we began hearing reports one by one that Omar was on gay dating sites and hung out at the "Pulse" in an effort to pick up gay men.  We know about his repressed personality due to perhaps an over-bearing father with higher expectations of him as to what a good Muslim ought to be.  We need to take a hard look at not only the mass availability of AR 15's and AK 47's but also Mental Illness as a subject for more throrough investigation, if for no other reason than National Security.  We need to find better ways of screening for certain types of Mental Illness the way we have learned to screen for autism in young toddlers.  On the soap opera there is this pretty young woman named Abigail.  In fact it could be that her beauty is her best feature.  But this week she sank deeper into her mental illness by torching the Institution she resides in and burned herself badly including her face.  How is she ever going to get over that?  Shawn Hannity sees everything in terms of ISIS sneaking people into this country by way of posing as refugees from Syria, and he says "They are coming by the hundreds of thousand and there is no way to vet them all because ISIS instructs (all of) them on how to lie to get past the authorities.  So we are in grave danger.  As Hannity puts it "They are taking away our guns to defend ourselves and then letting in more terrorists.  Of course Omar Meteen is from Queens, New York so he is an American citizen.  So apparently Ronald Reagan should have kept out Omar's parents. So Reagan's State department should have been psychic and known that their unborn son would be a psycho-killer.

Donald Trump is continuing to make one absurd statement after another.  When asked about people on the FBI terrorist watch list being allowed to buy guns, even assault weapons, Donald Trump said, “Let me consult with the NRA”.   Meanwhile there is new evidence that Trump didn’t and doesn’t pay any Federal Income taxes.  There are still rumors that Trump won’t be nominated; that the party will throw him out.   It seems that not only has Trump praised Vladimir Putin but Putin has praised Donald Trump.  They don’t allow homosexuality in Russia.   Trump has said “Any nation that doesn’t subscribe to our way of life and is terroristic- - is a nation we shouldn’t accept immigrants from”.

Mitch Mc Connell is speaking now after Senator Harry Reid gave a brief speech mostly on anti gun legislation.  He wants expanded background checks and also to close the terrorist watch loophole.  Just for a little background here, the Republicans have been saying as of late that people on terrorist watch lists could be there unjustly not having had ‘due process”.  Suddenly they are concerned about due process when so many of the people in Guantanamo Bay are there on the flimsiest of evidence, or no evidence at all.  The Obvious solution is to deny these people on the terrorist watch list the right to buy a firearm, and if there are any unjustly put on that last then we can deal with that issue separately. There was talk about June 19th being a holiday in Texas because on this date slaves in 1865 learned that they were now free.  There was also a plug for District of Columbia statehood.

John Mc Cain says President Obama is directly responsible for the terrorist attack in Orlando.  Donald Trump came close to saying the same thing yesterday.  They can’t talk about terrorism or any problem without linking the President to causing it whether it’s race relations or the state of the economy.  This kind of school yard taunting and passing the buck is not worthy of an elected statesman.  The conversational tone is altogether too juvenile these days.

There has been an incident where Russia hacked democratic computer data banks and stolen all the information about Donald Trump the party was planning to use in the campaign.  Here is something from Washington’s blog on the subject.  NATO had produced in 2013 (prior to the take-over of Ukraine) an informational propaganda video alleging that “cyberattacks” by people in Russia or in China that can compromise U.S. national security, could spark an invasion by NATO, if the U.S. President decides that the cyberattack was a hostile act by the Russian or Chinese government. In the video, a British national-security expert notes that this would be an “eminently political decison” for the U.S. President to make, which can be made only by the U.S. President, and which only that person possesses the legal authority to make. NATO, by producing this video, made clear that any NATO-member nation’s leader who can claim that his or her nation has been ‘attacked’ by Russia, possesses the power to initiate a NATO war against Russia. In the current instance, it would be U.S. President Barack Obama. However, this video also said that NATO could not automatically accept such a head-of-state’s allegation calling the cyber-attack an invasion, but instead the country that’s being alleged to have perpetrated the attack would have to have claimed, or else been proven, to have carried it out. With the new NATO policy, which was announced on June 14th, in which a cyber-attack qualifies automatically as constituting “war” just like any traditional attack, such a claim or proof of the target-nation’s guilt might no longer be necessary. But this has been left vague in the published news reports about it.  Could a President Hillary Clinton be planning an attack on Russia?

Now the Issues Couldn't Be Clearer

Politically the issues are clearer now in a perverse sense.  I mean by that Hillary is obviously the one to vote for despite her shortcomings.  When faced with the lunacy of Donald Trump there is no real choice any more.  Even Republicans don’t believe a religion of 1.3 Billion people should be barred from entering the United States because of a few long wolf terrorists, who were born here to begin with.  Donald Trump’s insistence on an extreme pro second amendment rights position is madness in the light of the Orlando shootings.  We need to hope and pray we elect a new democratic congress that will pass sensible gun legislation.  Of course it’s a testament to the gay lobby that now even Shawn Hannity is trying his darndest to appear “gay friendly”.   Just like all those imaginary Bernie supporters.  I think most of Donald Trump’s promises about the economy are pure BS and once Trump gets into office will be just about the time the economy crashes, and Trump won’t have a clue what to do.    The thing with the economy is that people like Shawn Hannity have this model of a static economic pie and of that static pie the poor are allotted only so much and the rich are allotted the rest and if you tax the rich they will eventually become as poor as the other 99% which would be awful.  But the truth is that it’s a rapidly standing pie, but even in the economic pie’s rapid expanse, the poor are still taking home less spendable money and the wreath of the rich is becoming unfathomable!  According to one statistic I saw- - anyone with more than $700,000 in assets is in the one percent.  That can’t be right.  I do wonder how many of the one percent have kids or dependents who are as impoverished as I am.  In terms of Trump making “better deals with foreign countries” you know this is the first thing Trump will forget about once he comes into power.  This video I’m watching says Fascism often starts with the nativist working class who feel that they haven’t gotten a square deal and want, of course, to blame the foreigners.  Meanwhile President Obama asks, “What difference will it make if I refer to ISIS terrorists as Islamist Extremist Terrorists?  It won’t make any difference militarily as a means of fighting them”.

I had the Gary and Shannon show on over lunch.  Bernie Sanders is making five demands.  First of all he wants to have a dominant role in writing the platform.  He wants all open primaries next times.  He wants same day voter registration.  This would be a problem because it takes the voting officials too long to identify who you are that way.  He wants an end to super delegates.  And he wants the leadership of the Democratic Party thrown out and all new ones installed, no doubt ones of his own choosing.  It’s not quite like the criminal who demands a hundred thousand dollars in gold and a free flight to the Camen Islands, but it’s close.  In soap land now Victor’s testimony before Roman is up for sale to the highest bidder.  If Kate gives him back the majority of his money he’ll start saying stuff about Nicole that isn’t true.  But if Kate turns him down he’ll say that Kate asked Victor to arrange the papers for the fake marriage.  Meanwhile Dario knows Clowie.  But now Clowie doesn’t trust him after he decided to tell her the truth.

It didn’t occur to me that the Orlando shooting would be a false flag stunt.  After all we know who the shooter is and we have the FBI information about his terrorist connections.  Still the attack plays beautifully into Donald Trump’s scenario.  We “need an event” like the beheadings of summer 2014 to whip up the people into a state of psychological hysteria and get them to vote Reputlican, even if only on sheer emotion.  The attack fits the same pattern observed dozens of times over the last several years; in particulars, the summary execution of the suspect and disbelief of those who knew him best, including his family.  Yet again, the timing of the attack combined with the demographic of the alleged victims and the demographic of the alleged gunman, dovetail too well with the domestic and geopolitical agendas in Washington. The Orlando shooting is simply perfect for at least six top priorities of a future Trump regime:
  • push the Gay agenda,
  • go nuts with the Second Amendment,
  • justify Orwellian surveillance,
  • embolden the police state,
  • fan hatred of Muslims,
Money Draw call came just before two.  I went out and talked to Glen a while and then got in line which wasn’t too long.  That new Linda girl has this red blotch on her face.  Is it from too much rogue that won’t come off?   Gabby was hanging around sometimes lying on the floor.  I asked for and got fifteen dollars.  I took two pieces of chocolate and left.  I went out and bought John Blacks and a turquoise lighter.  They modified the wheel so it’s easier on your fingers, I guess.  Larry Barton paid me back the two cigarettes he owed me.  After a while I got in line to see Dr Saran.  They were calling names alphabetically for once.  Though they were only up to “G” I figured I’d take my chances.  For most of the time I got to sit down in a chair.  Now they’ve gone to those drugstore blood pressure indicators where the nurse doesn’t have to do anything.  I think the figure was 121 over 78 or something.  It wasn’t rounded off to five’s the way they usually do it.  I asked Dr Saran for my blood test results and the folder was empty.  He said he’d look into it. I thought there was something else I should remember to ask him but I couldn’t remember.  Bill has spent almost no time in the room and isn’t here now.

The Cleveland Cavileers beat the Golden State Warriors in a game played in California.  Now the Cavileers are only one game down 2 to 3.  Thursday is game six and Cleveland stands a good chance now.  Friday the heat wave begins.  I went for medication but unlike last night the line was really long again despite the fact it was Tom passing them out.  I got free coffee from Glen on credit.  In general cigarettes were very hard to come by, which is good because I only owe John one Pall Mall.  In his room Glen pointed out they’re making the coffee packets longer now for a stronger brew.  I still fell asleep right at the end of the game and woke up at nine o clock when Bill asked me the time.  I was pretty drowsy and decided to go to bed.
